Welcome To Our Site!!!

We are a group of CarPC / CarPuter enthusiasts and hobbyists who install and configure Computer Based Entertainment and Navigation Systems into automobiles. Much like the top end vehicle manufactures are doing now, and even some of the mid-lower end... but folk like us, started the revolution... :) We have ~25 members so far in the Washington, DC Metro Area and it's growing all the time. We have monthly meets on the 3rd Saturday of each month, at 2pm. We have many talented folk in our group and all are will to assist others with their setups. We share tips, ideas, and much more. Overall we get together and have a good time. Sweet rides, sweet setups... and occasionally grabbing a bite to eat and a few drinks afterwards (this summer we'll be doing a lot of cookouts). :) We hope you'll join us. :)

This site is not to replace our favorite carpc forum site, MP3CAR.com, but simply create a localized meeting place for our members, providing photo galleries, event calendars and much more for our local peeps.

Since I'm currently hosting numerous projects for individuals in the carpc realm, I decided to actually build a site, devote to just that, providing 'organized' hosting for these individuals, who create projects. You'll be given your own subdomain (i.e. w3bma5t3r.carpcnet.com ), personalized email for that account, and ftp access to your subdomain to control your own project's webpage/site. The site also has a dynamic, database driven project manager, to let others know what projects you have and are working on. You'll have you own secure login and admin area to manage this feature. If you already have your own site, you are still more than welcome to create a site here as well, because it won't hurt to increase your userbase either ;)

 W3bTracker - GPS Tracking From the W3bMa5t3r

CarPCsOk, well all know about GPS tracking and we all want it, but it seems like every time someone brings out a system, it lasts for a few months and they disappear and or just quit supporting the project. So with all the frustration gathering, I took it upon my self in probably my first really big coding project and came up with my own GPS Tracking system, utilizing a client and server. The application is highly configurable and the web pages are secured with logins required. To receive a GPS tracking account all that is required is that you register with this site (http://w3btracker.com) and request the service.

------------------------ HOW DO I GET AN ACCOUNT? ------------------------
  1. Register with GoogleMaps and get a Gmap API KEY - HERE. Your website url to give GoogleMaps will be:
    http://w3btracker.com/view.php
  2. Register with W3bTracker.com. Include the Gmap API KEY you received from GoogleMaps.
  3. Once registered, send a message to the staff of W3bTracker.com to requesting a W3bTracker User ID (UID).
  4. You will NOT be able to view your route until you have a valid UID.

Ability to upload log to server, from the website, has now been added. A change in the datalog code was required, so this only works with the version 2.1.0.7 and newer of W3bTracker.

The errors mentioned in the mp3car forums should be fixed, and the data transmission to the server should be faster and more reliable.

Do NOT use the new tracker url for older versions, or vice versa. IT WON'T work. Nuf Said. lol.

OK PEEPS! I've added Mologogo Tracking to the server as well You MUST have W3bTrack GPS Tracking account to use this. When you log in, you'll see your personal ALTURL to enter into your phone. I know it's long, but well... sorry You'll see the links on the left for viewing your last points. A quick loading, no frills minimap, and a larger full of the bells & whistles kinda map LMK whatcha think. Later...

 November 2006 Monthly Car Meet

We had a great turn out today at Tysons Corner in front of the AMC Theaters, seems every other month has a good turn out. :) Thanks to all who came out and made this a success. There were some great carpc installs, installs in progress and even worked out a few problems folks had with their computers/setups. The location was a little rough because of the Christmas shoppers, but after 35-40 min and pretty sure most everyone was there, we moved over to the parking garage by Macys where there was plenty of room for us :) We got alot of pics which should be posted in the photo galleries before too long. Thanks again to everyone who came out and for those who didn't, we hope to see you at the next.

P.S. If you have pics to add to the galleries, the easiest way is to just zip them up and email them to me (email address in the member list to the left). I can then dump them in to the meet folder and have the website/script auto add and resize them :) Cheers
